Bruce Wilson is one of the founders of Helm Godfrey Partners, a firm of Independent Financial Advisers based in the city of London which in 2008 won 2 prestigious awards – Money Marketing’s IFA of the year and Financial Adviser’s Large IFA of the year.
“I take a creative and person-centred approach to financial planning by acting as a guide to help my clients discover what it is that they want their lives to be about. What is it that truly excites them and what at the end of their lives do they want their life to say about them.”
He is Vice President of the Institute of Financial Planning of which he is a Fellow, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Registered Life Planner (RLP) and a Chartered Accountant.

As a leading advocate of life planning, Bruce is committed to forging a new and radically client-focused approach that puts the client back at the centre of the financial planning process. He has co-founded Project Eve – an association of Registered Life Planners dedicated to promoting the life planning concept to lower income groups.
“My working life has been rich and varied: prior to becoming the founding managing director of Helm in 1999 I qualified as a chartered accountant and spent time in Australia. This was followed by 5 years running an alternative health charity where I also taught yoga and practised acupuncture. My sense of adventure and love of travel then called me to join the Oxfam Bicycle Ride to India and on my return I surprised myself again and entered the world of financial services in 1995.
I stepped down from the MD position at Helm Godfrey at the end of 2010 remaining involved in the business as a shareholder, director and client adviser. I am currently Vice President of the Institute of Financial Planning (the premier professional association for financial planners in the UK) prior to becoming President of the organisation in 2012.
My other interests include a love of travel, adventurous sports (including paragliding and completing 2 Ironman triathlons) and the continued and never ending journey of what it means to live a fulfilled life.”
